What is the Creative Style Personality?

Would you choose the shirt on the right before ever considering the white cotton shirt? Are you automatically drawn to eye-catching, bold and unusual patterns?

Well, creative style personalities love to have fun with their clothing. They view dressing up as an art form and use their clothes to show their artistic side opting for the floral print blouse over the plain white option to the right.

Creatives are drawn to the daring, eclectic designs that other style personalities (especially classics) shy away from. Creatives will love ensemble dressing and many probably already do it without knowing.

This personality doesn’t want to blend in; they stay true to themselves and celebrate their unique style. As a creative, you love artistic clothing that creates an unusual silhouette and love to experiment.

You are open to trying various styles, colours, designs, patterns and prints. Your ideal capsule wardrobe would be full of beautiful, distinct and colourful garments; each item would be unique.

Right Off The Runway- Clothing For The Creative Style Personality

Patterns and prints are the best friends of this style personality; feel free to be as daring as you desire and collate a collection of various patterns and styles. Exotic prints will allow you to portray your artistic side and set you apart from a sea of neutrals. Geometric designs will also allow you to achieve a unique aesthetic, so don’t run from unusual prints.

Remember to keep in mind that you should probably still have a few garments in neutral and solid colours to ensure that you can seamlessly build outfits with your bold designs in a stylish way. Pulling a couple colours out of bold patterns and wearing these colours in other parts of your outfit will create a cohesive look.

Consider mix-matching both vintage and new clothing for an unpredictable style. Vintage garments are unique and may not be available in modern shops due to current trends.

Clothing Top Tip: Consider technicalities (i.e., fabric) to add depth to your wardrobe. Materials such as tulle and brigade will add a unique texture and refreshingly elevate your style without stifling creativity.

It is great to love your unique style. Still, it is also essential to remember to dress appropriately for your lifestyle, particularly when considering your work wardrobe. I understand that an office environment with a traditional business formal dress code may stunt your creativity.

Small creative touches will allow self-expression. Incorporate patterned blouses with muted suits to maintain the correct balance. Patterns such as houndstooth are still considered professional, although still pretty bold. Also, consider embroidered pieces and garments with different textures to differentiate from the typical office wear.

Fit Top Tips: Contrasting fits can help achieve an artistic silhouette. For example, contrast a structured pencil skirt with an airy, unstructured blouse and a boyfriend blazer.

Walking Art- Shoes For The Creative Style Personality

Naturally, creatives will love artsy shoes and should have fun with their shoes. Why not go for some floral print wedge heels or bold espadrille sandals.

Additionally, there are plenty of flat style shoe alternatives equally as fun; slippers are versatile and come in various colours and patterns. There are also plenty of sandals that come in adventurous and fun designs. You can also mix and match trainers for a unique look if you feel seriously creative.

Remember to keep a pair of formal style shoes to have the option when needed. They don’t have to be boring as long as they are appropriate for formal occasions; conservative styles can also come in different finishes, fabrics, and colours, so thoroughly explore all of these avenues when debating on shoe purchases.

Shoes Top Tips: Experiment with tights! You don’t have to stick to the usual nude and sheer black hosiery; why not try some bold opaque colours, have fun with some print tights. Again, just remember to consider the environment as some tights can be regarded as inappropriate in a work environment. Also, consider matching patterned clothing with shoes; why not pair a leopard print blouse with leopard print pumps for a coordinated look?

Less Is Bore?- Bags & Accessories For The Creative Style Personality

You probably love to experiment with dramatic makeup, and you may also complement your creative aesthetic with fun and bold nail art.

Make sure you have a selection of bags in various styles, colours, shapes and sizes to accessorise with multiple prints and patterns in your wardrobe. Consider fabrics and finishes to add depth to your outfits.

Slouchy bags are ideal for your desire for clothing with unusual silhouettes. Remember to also have simple, understated bags (i.e., Plain black crossbody bag) to pair with extremely busy or loud outfits.

Bag top tip: Match bags with colours that reoccur in the patterns of your garments. Additionally, bag colours and finishes matching your shoes will offer stylish cohesion.

Regarding accessories, the more is more approach rings a bell for this style personality. Feel free to invest in costume jewellery and statement pieces inspired by your personal creativity.

Also, consider layering smaller pieces together to create your own unique statement pieces; you could mix and match multi-stack rings or layer chain necklaces together in an unusually stylish way. Invest in unusual accessories such as tube scarves and collars to further distinguish your style.

Accessories top tip: Play with different textures for dressier occasions. If you usually go for metals, consider a feather choker or earrings. Wear them together for a striking statement or separately when you only want a touch of drama.

Painter’s Palette – Colours For The Creative Style Personality.

Creative Style Colour Palette

Creatives feel more at home playing with dramatic, bold colours than any other style personality. You have no qualms about wearing daringly contrasting colours and will happily mix and match multiple bright colours in a single outfit.

Why not create monochrome outfits using some of your favourite bold colours? Repeating the same colour will achieve a coordinated, polished and stylish aesthetic, while the use of bold colours will allow freedom to express creativity.

You can also use neutral colours and shades such as black, grey, beige and white to add balance to your bolder outfits, which will allow you to wear more of your dramatic outfits to a broader range of occasions and settings.

Colour Top Tip: Limit the number of colours in your outfits; stick to a few colours (under four) per outfit and work with them throughout your outfit to create a cohesive look.
